- Villa Wolf is the celebrated Ernst Loosen's estate in the up and coming Pfalz region along the River Rhine and from where he is producing some excellent and good value modern varietals such as this delicious Pinot Noir. After fermentation half the wine is aged in stainless steel and the other half in French oak for around 12 months. The result is a wine with a pale cherry red colour and attractive herby, savoury, minerally character to the nose which shows some lightly aromatic red cherry fruit. The palate has a smooth, elegant sort of fruitiness, with a hint of spiciness backing up the red cherry fruits, as well as a trace of undergrowthy complexity.
